Lackon provided the Project Director role for the $104 million Bruce Highway—Cairns Southern Access Corridor Stage 4 project, which spanned from Kate Street to Aumuller Street. This project was a crucial part of the 15-year Bruce Highway Upgrade Program, a significant $13 billion initiative aimed at enhancing safety, flood resilience, and capacity along the highway corridor from Brisbane to Cairns. Key components of the project included the widening of Kate Street (renamed Links Drive) and Buchan Street to create a 6-lane dual carriageway, upgrades extending through Draper Street and Kenny Street, and the installation of a new 3-lane inbound bridge to replace the existing 2-lane bridge. The project also involved widening the existing outbound bridge from 2 to 3 lanes, creating a new off-road shared pathway, adding additional turning lanes at the Lyons Street and Aumuller Street intersections, and upgrading the Draper/Kenny Street roundabout to a signalized intersection with a new double left turn for outbound traffic.
