Department of Transport and Main Roads QLD

Lackon provided the Project Director role for the Cairns Western Arterial Road (CWAR) duplication project, which aimed to upgrade the road between Redlynch Connector Road and Captain Cook Highway. This major infrastructure development involved expanding the CWAR to a 4-lane dual carriageway and duplicating key structures, such as the rail overpass at Redlynch and the Kamerunga Bridge over the Barron River. The project was executed in three stages: Stage 1 focused on the section between Lake Placid Road and Captain Cook Highway; Stage 2 covered the stretch from Redlynch Connector Road to Harley Street, including the duplication of the rail overpass; and Stage 3 extended from Harley Street to Lake Placid Road, incorporating the construction of a new Barron River bridge.
