MICC engaged Lackon to support the delivery of the capital program, including this project. Our role included but was not limited to the following: Developing project business cases, feasibility, and budget; Planning, designing, and procuring; Managing construction and contracts; Commissioning and handing over; Applying for and managing state and federal funding, and reporting; and Coordinating the capital works program.
A vital part of the city’s spot and recreation infrastructure, the Family Fun Precinct upgrade delivered critical infrastructure improvements to increase the usability, functionality and appeal of the multiuse recreational venue. Spanning across the aquatic centre, fun park, parklands and skate park, the redevelopment included aquatic centre operational upgrades including a solar energy initiative and dedicated first aid and lifeguard facilities. Installation of extra shade structures, improved security and fencing, and new lighting, also improved the precinct for the community.
Funded by both Council contributions and the Queensland Government's Building our Regions program, this project created many construction jobs across the region, supporting small businesses and boosting industry supply chains.
