The Animal Shelter Redevelopment project involves the delivery of a larger, purpose-built Animal Shelter at the existing DRC animal shelter site, including the construction of Class 5 and Class 8 buildings, expanding on the current facilities and encompassing Council’s project delivery objectives including:
• A safer and fit for purpose environment for staff, stakeholders and animals
• Meets the code of practice for animal boarding establishments
• Designed to have future additions
• Time and cost efficiencies in staff time and medication (Reduced vet attendance)
Lackon managed the project from inception, overseeing the engagement of design consultants for design, planning, and approvals, and guided the project through to DA and CC stages. During the design phase, Lackon worked closely with the asset custodian to ensure all operational and delivery requirements were met. A key focus of the project was achieving a reduced cost outcome for the council, without compromising the functionality and intended purpose of the new facilities.
