Kerkin Road North serves as a crucial arterial route linking Jacobs Well with Pimpama and Coomera. The original single-lane culvert crossing at the Kerkin Road Weir, constructed in 1965, underwent necessary structural repairs in 2017. Recognising the need for a more sustainable solution, the decision was made to replace the crossing with a new two-lane bridge. This new structure offers a safer and more economical alternative to continuous repairs, while also providing enhanced capacity for future traffic flows.
The new bridge was constructed downstream and parallel to the existing crossing, which remained operational throughout the construction phase. Once the new bridge became operational, the existing crossing was designated for pedestrian access only, with its flood gates retained as part of the Woongoolba Flood Mitigation Scheme.
Lackon provided comprehensive project Superintendent, Inspector, and Superintendent's Representative services to ensure the successful delivery of this important infrastructure upgrade. Our team's expertise facilitated effective project management, stakeholder engagement, and adherence to safety and quality standards throughout the project's lifecycle.
