Lackon played a key role in delivering a critical infrastructure upgrade that significantly improved safety and reliability for communities in the Far North Queensland District, including the Cassowary Coast and Port Douglas Regions. As Project Manager, Lackon oversaw the upgrade of non-compliant sites to meet TMR standards and specifications, including the replacement of non-compliant ducting, damaged cable pitch, cables, and switchboards, as well as testing and decommissioning installations.
Lackon supported TMR throughout the design, construction, and maintenance phases, ensuring that the project met its time, scope, and budget objectives while maintaining a strong focus on safety. In addition to managing procurement, competitive tendering, and contractor supervision, Lackon ensured compliance with WHS and quality standards, delivering best-for-project outcomes.
The R3 Lighting Rectification Program, part of this upgrade, delivered substantial benefits to the community by improving safety for road users, pedestrians, and cyclists, particularly in low-visibility areas and during night-time driving. The installation of more efficient lighting systems also reduced energy consumption and operational costs, contributing to lower energy bills and a reduction in carbon emissions.
